In Munich I took a morning and visited a well respected and frequented furniture store in the heart of the city. There was not a single traditional piece of furniture to be seen. Or even a transitional one. It was all very – very – contemporary.
Would you believe me if I told you this colored stuff on the picture above is wallpaper? Well it really is. Below you can see the detail. It’s just pieces of colored paper sewn together.
This floor lamp below is what you saw when you walked in. Very striking. Very big. Is it practical or just crazy? Everyone has their own opinion about that.
Further in the store you saw kitchens.
Going through the store, I found some Living Room vignettes.
And this was in the window:
Was there anything at all that you fell in love with? No? It’s hard, isn’t it? No personality. Except for the wallpaper. Next time I go, I will go to a very high end furniture store and see what they have there.
However, there was one thing that made me almost laugh: Upstairs I found a Victorian chair with a most fun contemporary fabric on it, what a conversation piece!
